Patty Hart Memorial Scholarship Fund

Patty Hart was a dedicated and hardworking member of the GFWC Danville Women’s Club for 30 years (1968-1998). Ms. Hart worked on many committees, fundraisers and club activities. She was the Club’s President from 1983-84 and the Education Committee Chairman from 1984-1998. In her roll as Education Committee Chairman, Ms. Hart was an  advocate for providing educational opportunities to all students and was a firm believer that there was more to being a good student than top grades. Intangibles, like school spirit, community awareness and service as well as  responsibilities outside the classroom were important indicators of a student’s character and integrity. The Patty Hart Memorial Scholarship was created to celebrate and honor Ms. Hart’s tireless work for the Danville Women’s Club and her passion for education.

Ever year the Education Committee spends hundreds of hours reviewing applications, interviewing and selecting scholarship recipients.  At our April meeting members get to meet this year's group, hear their backgrounds, desire for future education, career path and life goals.  Parents and school counselors often attend as well.  We have given swards for 60 years to students going to universities, colleges, junior colleges and vocational/technical schools and have given leadership seminar grants, and direct to school program donations as well.  When it comes to education and career goals, every bit of funding for a student helps them succeed.
